Re: Is free audio conversion software available ?

Foobar2000 is an excellent, light-weight audio player that supports most audio formats. It also allows you to convert from one file type to another, and it is free (but not open source): http://www.foobar2000.org/

Re: Playing to backing tracks

The eleven rack appears to normally come bundled with a copy of Avid pro tools, you may want to use that and not Audacity at all. There is a possibility that the eleven rack may not work with Audacity. Some hardware products from Avid are designed to not work with audio programs other than their ow...

Re: sync-lock

Perhaps the user had recorded or imported them. If user had done that, then the tracks would be normal height to begin with. Do we have a platform difference? If, with "Automatically fit tracks vertically zoomed" enabled, I import 10 tracks, the tracks are "expanded" but they ar...

Re: "Show Clipping" Options

Crossed posts with Gale. I think we are agreed the threshold for meters and Show Clipping should match by default. I am neutral about that, I can see arguments for and against, but if the do have the same (default) threshold, then I think it must be 1 sample. The ability to easily find a single samp...

Re: "Show Clipping" Options

In any case, transparency is off the agenda due to technical difficulties, as I understand it. The suggestion was an aside, so we can leave that out of this discussion. the "bug" is the timeline red bars that appear with no associated sound damage. It would be a much worse "bug"...

and of course, if there is no audible damage, then that is a bug in your new tool - same goes for the light not coming on when there is audible damage. I look forward to see how you calibrate the bugs out.

Re: Bizarre Waveform output

Does anyone know if this is a common issue with sound chips/sound cards? In scientific / engineering equipment, they go to great lengths ($'s) to prevent such things from happening. For sound cards, they don't. It doesn't really matter in terms of sound quality if there is a bit of frequency depend...

Re: Audacity won't record/playback

When I hit the record button the curser did not move from the 0.0 line and began to flash. That usually indicates that Audacity is wanting to record but is not receiving any audio data. First thing to try: Reboot the computer. if that does not fix it, please give details about what you are trying t...

Re: Don't know what happened to my file?!?

So I was working on a project, saved it .... "That" version is probably the last version that will be available. Any later changes are likely to be gone and lost forever. Do you remember exactly what name the project had and where it was saved when you saved it? When you saved the project...

Re: Happy User

Thanks for the feedback Dan.
The developers don't often come here - they mostly leave it to the QA team to look after - but I'll pass your comments on.
Glad that you find it useful and intuitive - we try hard to make it so ;)
