Look in the Windows Sound Control Panel and check that the device is set to record as stereo.
Also, Audacity must be set to record "2 channels (stereo)" in the device toolbar.

Re: Normalise R channel to be the same as L
The "Normalize stereo channels independently" option will normalize left and right channels to the same peak level. However, note that "peak level" is not the same as "loudness". If there is one peak in a channel that is higher than other peaks, then that is the peak th...

Re: EQ matching
I posted a "hybrid" method somewhere on this forum - a Nyquist plug-in that converts the exported "Plot Spectrum" data to an Equalization effect XML file.

Re: windows wasapi stops record when silenced.
WASAPI loopback allows Audacity to record directly from a output stream. When there is no output stream, there is nothing to record so WASAPI loopback recording will stop. The only way to keep it recording is to keep the output stream active. Why do you want to record silence? If you want a period o...

Re: General beginner help
Moved to the "Making Music" board (as the question is mostly OS agnostic and about making music). Thanks for all the details - a refreshing change ;) Suggestions: the signal gets from our Fender mixing amp to my laptop via a 3.5 mm input connector directly into the microphone input jack on...

Re: Will 2.0.03 measure seconds to 6 decimal places?
It occurred to me that there is another format that is actually missing: Percentage There's an infinite number of formats "missing". Julian days : hh : mm tP x 10^nn ss + nanoseconds moments beats at 120 bpm 4/4 bars + 120 bpm 3/4 bars + 120 bpm 5/4 bars + 120 bpm 6/6 bars + 120 bpm 4/4 b...

Re: Suppress folders ending in _data for OPEN, SAVE, etc...
Thanks but I occasionally go back to projects over a year old to tweak this setting or that. As an artist, I am never sure a project is finished ;) In that case I would suggest one of the following: 1) For each project, create a new folder and name it to match the name of the project. Then put both...

Re: Editing inputs from ZOOMh4n
I have a Zoom H2. The way that I usually use it is to record onto the H2 (stand-alone device), then take out the flash card and put it into the card reader of my laptop. Then copy (not "move") the tracks from the flash card to the laptop hard drive. The recordings (now on the computer) can...
