Re: AC3 to stereo aiff
looks like first(top) is L/R second is L/R third is C enter fourth has a silent solo +/- 0.1 fifth has music sixth has music My guess: 1: L 2: R 3: C 4: LF 5: LS (left surround) 6: RS (right surround) I'd suggest working with just 1, 2 and 3. "LF" is not always used - video players can of...

Re: Record level has to be set very low 0.04
Only until it's plugged in. Or just after. ;) Typically we're taking about 16 bit serial data at the USB socket, and that bit is the same regardless of the computer. Then the data is subject to drivers/software control, and at that point anything can happen, and we see a lot of variability with req...

Re: AC3 to stereo aiff
Bottom track: Pan off center and then back. What's that about koz? If a track in audacity is mono, it's mono - no need to mess about panning it off centre and back again. Already installed library and split AC3 file into 5 tracks. and from pete's other posts, the 5 tracks are clearly all mono becau...

Re: AC3 to stereo aiff
"Your tracks will be mixed down to a single mono channel in the exported file" That's because all of your tracks are mono. In my previous post I described how to create a stereo mix down. On the other hand, the choices on FFmpeg export are beyond bewildering. As I wrote previously, you do...

Re: reset Preferences CFG file
It would be better to fix the bug than program for existence of a bug. Absolutely, but this is all very new and there are a lot of "unknowns". For example, if a user tries to load/install a plugin that crashes Audacity, can it be guaranteed that Audacity will launch if the effect has been...

Re: changing target hdd
Note that working on external drives, especially network drives, is not recommended because working with audio requires moving a lot of data around, and external drives will frequently struggle to keep up with the demand. Assuming that your D drive is an internal drive: 1) Launch Audacity 2) File me...

Re: Will 2.0.03 measure seconds to 6 decimal places?
Which is in other words a bug, introduced in the latest code? It was also a bug in earlier versions. A selection can exist before zero on the timeline. Although Audacity 2.0.6 will show "-1" in the Selection Toolbar when there is one second of audio behind zero, it goes all to pot beyond ...

Re: AC3 to stereo aiff
Did not see any easy way to combine into 2 stereo tracks and export as air. I presume that you mean "as AIFF"? Maybe FFmpeg does this but looks pretty scary to me. You don't need FFmpeg to export AIFF (mono or stereo). When you Export from Audacity, all tracks that are not muted are mixed...

Re: reset Preferences CFG file
Is this a Linux only bug? Apparently not. Waxcylinder has also reported the problem of duplicate entries for Nyquist plugins. as long as the user chooses to rescan effects I think that will have exactly the same effect as deleting pluginregistry.cfg. No. The duplicate Nyquist plugins issue clears o...

Re: Strange one-time recording.
My guess is that there was a problem with the USB connection that was causing data loss during the recording, but that is only a guess. If you could post a short sample in WAV format (see: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 49&t=72887) we may be able to say with a bit more certainty.
