What sort of headphones / speakers are you using?
My guess is that you have struggled to get the noise level down. Did I guess right?

Re: Audacity is filling up the /var/tmp directory in Ubuntu
I hadn't realised that Audacity was such a memory hog! It isn't really a "memory hog". Firstly, the problem you had is related to disk space, not memory. Secondly, to perform anything more than very basic audio editing, the audio data must be uncompressed. Even at standard 16 bit 44100 Hz...

Re: Windows 7, using Audacity 2.0.3 with an exe file include
Audacity 2.0.3 is an old version. The current version is 2.0.6 which you can download (free) via the Audacity website: http://audacityteam.org/download/windows If you installed the old version, uninstall it, then download the "Audacity 2.0.6 installer" (near the top of the linked page) to ...

Re: mp3 File Import Problem
I record from my smartphone and then convert the files to .mp3 by right-clicking and renaming them with the .mp3 extension Changing the file extension does not "convert the files". The file extension is just part of the name, and many programs (particularly on Windows) rely on that part o...

Re: iTunes Import Problem
That says that the file was opened successfully.
As I wrote previously, it would be useful if you would post a screenshot of the waveform with "Show Clipping" turned off.

Re: iTunes Import Problem
No, those are not errors. That is Audacity looking to see if you have FFmpeg installed. You do, and Audacity finds it.

4 Hz is inaudible (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hearing#Frequency_range). If you can hear something it is probably your speakers / headphones rattling.

Re: Export AAC
This is a known problem and is noted in the Audacity 2.0.6 release notes: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Release_Notes_2.0.6#Imports_and_Exports_.28FFmpeg.29 M4A (AAC) exports: The Quality Slider in "Specify AAC Options" has no effect if the FFmpeg library is built with the libvo-aac en...

Re: Edit Chains dialog does not add the command[SOLVED]
So to open a command for editing, you would left click on the command, then right click on the command, rather than double left click the command?nbi wrote:How about a single left click to highlight/select and then a right click to bring up a pop-up with all possible operations against the selected item?

Re: low volume and hum using mic
Most USB preamps and mixers include a headphone socket that allows you to hear the microphone with no delay. Some USB microphones have a headphone socket for the same purpose, but many do not. If a USB mic does not have a headphone socket, then it will probably not be possible to listen to the micro...
