Re: existing file info - peak and RMs

The peak value is easy - just import the file and with that track selected, open the Amplify effect. The Amplify effect defaults to the amplification amount needed to bring the peak level to 0 dB, so if the Amplify effect says, for example: Amplification (dB) [ 3.5 ] then the peak level is -3.5 dB. ...

Re: Mismatched Tag

There is an error at line 783. This should not be there:

Code: Select all

<simpveblock start="60030976">
I don't think that is the only error though.

What happened?

Re: Auto-Stop

This has been discussed quite recently by the developers, and generally I think it is a good idea. "Stop" will stop both playback and recording. I don't see any major problems with inferring "stop" if an edit command is selected during playback, and I think it would save a lot of...

Re: ERROR in Plot Spectrum?

So I'm clear, does that also mean per selected track, so with 6 selected tracks there are by default six traces? Or only for stereo pairs and tracks assigned to Left or Right? One trace per channel. If you select one stereo track and 2 mono tracks, Plot Spectrum will show 4 traces. An obvious issue...

Re: How would you repair this audio clip?

For comparison (all samples in OGG format so they are small enough for the forum) The first minute of your original: 1min-original.ogg Your "Sound Cleaner" with maximum suppression: imin-max-sound-cleaner.ogg The noise has been very effectively reduced, but at the expense of noticeable dam...

Re: ERROR in Plot Spectrum?

Would we not want a checkbox to turn per channel display on and off? I think the default behaviour should be to show one trace per selected channel. Although it is not very friendly for colour-blind users, I think this is the only unambiguous way to present data from multiple channels Optionally, y...

Re: 'Export Audio' will always default to .aiff extension

I'm on Ubuntu here...and they are using indeed a DEBUG build, instead of (what I would expect!) a release build. If you are using Sid and you installed that version of Audacity from the Ubuntu repository, please send a bug report to Ubuntu. If that is not the case, where did you get Audacity from a...

Re: How to insert selection at the beginning of a track

What happens if you just click on the track where you want to paste, and then paste? Does that not do what you want?

Re: How To Treat A Quack?

I think you have the basic idea. Making really good edits takes practice. There is an article here about making crossfades: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/creating_a_crossfade.html In my edit, the crossfade was applied to a very short overlap (less than 1 millisecond) during the quietest momen...
