Re: moving sections from one track to another

There's several ways that you can do that in Audacity, though I can't think of anything quite as slick as he is doing in Pro Tools. One way is to add your new "breath" track ("Tracks menu > Add New"). If your original track is mono, the breath track must also be mono, is stereo t...

Re: it starts playing when i add markers

Try resetting the keyboard shortcuts.
To do that, go to "Edit > Preferences > Keyboard" and click on the "Defaults" button, then press "OK".

No, it can't be done with phase cancellation, and that is why it is not easy to do.

Re: Auto-Stop

I'd have liked a separate Stop and Set Cursor button as you know, but I agree it would not be the whole answer. Only slightly off topic, why can't we have shift+space for stop and set cursor? I know that it is used for starting loop play, but it is not used during play. Failing that, why not Ctrl+S...

Re: True Mid from Stereo

There is no simple algebraic way to do that. Have a look at the experimental "rjh-stereo-tool.ny" http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=216689#p216689 As that plugin is not part of Audacity, any questions regarding the plugin should be addressed to Robert JH (the plugin author) by ...

Re: edit preferences

I installed the latest version of audacity We're on tenterhooks here - would that be Audacity 2.0.6? (as it says in the pink box near the top of the page, the exact three-section version of Audacity can be found from "Help > About Audacity") and your version of Windows is? Which manual ar...

Re: Mismatched Tag

Top tips for important projects: Periodically make backups of the full project. To do this, "File > Save Project As" and give the project a new name. Use a consistent and methodical naming system so that you can keep track of your backups, for example: myproject001.aup, myproject002.aup, m...

Re: How do I recover sound files broken in 6 second chunks?

Do these files names help me sort the chunks out into their original order? No. Is there a logic to the file names that corresponds to the chronological order? No. If the recording is unedited, then you may be able to put them in order by renaming the files according to their creation / modified ti...

New Button icon or shortcut for "Stop and Set Cursor"

Topic split from: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=263750#p263750 A significant question is where we auto-stop on choosing an edit command - where playback started from or where it ended? I have not seen the discussion, so what was the decision about that? The discussion was at AU14 and...
