Re: Auto labelling - possible?
If a count reset or a label sort needs "years of discussion" then the system is broken IMHO I agree that some options could be useful, but given that the developer's don't like "preferences bloat", and no-one likes "menu bloat", how would you propose to add options to ...

Re: How to insert selection at the beginning of a track
if you have audio "selected", then the pasted audio will replace the selected audio. (see here for a description of what "selected audio" means: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/audacity_selection.html) If you put the cursor at the start of the track but do not select the tra...

Re: How to apply equalizer without clipping? (2.0.6)
but I am assuming what you mean is that 32bit float is high enough precision that it doesn't really matter practice in normal usage (ie. not hundreds of extreme level changes). Quite so. In fact you can perform literally hundreds of amplification operations without any significant losses. 32 bit fl...

Re: Plugins?
Most actions (including effects) are disabled during playback and paused playback. Try clicking on the Stop button so that playback is stopped and not just paused, then try the effects again.

Re: How to apply equalizer without clipping? (2.0.6)
The point is that I just want to avoid "crushing" the details of the recording too many/drastic amplify actions If you are using the default "32 bit float" format in the audio track (see the info panel on the left end of the track), then you may amplify the track up and down as ...

Re: How would you repair this audio clip?
it seems to me that I am required to define (declare, learn, whatever) what I understand to be noise. Is that the way you did it? Yes. I just looked for one of the longer gaps between words and selected that to make the "noise profile". The (pre-release) manual entry for the new Noise Red...

Re: Book Recommendation?
At the time, circa 1990, there was no such thing as object oriented, but my remedy was to learn Java (and currently C#) on my own. I doubt that you were learning Java in 1990 ;) I once hired a guy who was top-notch, heavily involved in the wxWidgets project, to develop a GUI multi-platform applicat...
