Re: How to remove snare drum ring from a recording?
RamonFHerrera, you have previously told us that you are a complete novice with audio, and although you say that you have been studying noise removal techniques for the past couple of weeks, that does not make you an expert. While I applaud your enthusiasm for the subject, I don't think that you are ...

Re: Coding query - Is this just a 8khz wav file?
I have a client who would like a file as PCM 8Khz 16 bit. Is that simply a WAV file adjusted? Just set the "Project Rate" (lower left corner of the main Audacity window) to 8000 before you export, and export as a "normal" (16 bit PCM) WAV file. If they want a mono file, you will...

Re: How to record from Rythmbox?
I presume that you have some version of Ubuntu? Which version? Does your computer have an internal sound card? If so, it does not appear to be listed in the recording devices, which is strange. Please try rebooting your computer, then (without opening any other programs), launch Audacity and select ...

Re: Suggestion (Bandpass Filter and Custom FFT Filter)
As I said before, the high and low shelves seem to affect a wider range than expected. As per the Nyquist Eq-highshelf and Eq-lowshelf commands (http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~rbd/doc/nyquist/part8.html#index451) the defined frequency point is the half gain point and (unlike high pass and low pass filters)...

Re: it starts playing when i add markers
what I want from poor man's scrubbing and what you want from real scrubbing may be incompatible unless we are very smart about making it into one feature. Probably better for a separate topic, but as you have raised it here I'll ask here. What do you want from "poor man's scrubbing" that ...

Re: it starts playing when i add markers
Does it indicate that? I understand it to indicate that you can use CTRL to Cut Preview a region. In which case it is still a bug because I can't "Cut Preview" using the Envelope Tool in the Track window. Removing features is always a regression for someone. As waxcylinder says, there is ...

Re: it starts playing when i add markers
I'm opposed to removing the feature until there is a better way than Timeline play to play from a spot in one step. I'm interested in a better way to play from a spot. In fact I'd also like to be able to play AT a specific spot with an effective scrub / jog feature. Would I have your support (in pr...

To record sounds that are playing on your computer, see in the manual here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tu ... linux.html
