Re: Blue yeti not recording omnidirectionally.

"Omnidirectional" just means that it picks up sound from all around. It does not mean that it produces stereo. The sound from one single microphone is always mono. "Stereo microphones" contain two (or more) microphone capsules and produce separate signals for the left and right s...

Re: Moving audacity files from one computer to another

Do I have to Export the files as mp3's No, don't do that. Converting to MP3 always loses some audio quality, and you should try to maintain the best quality all the way through the production process. Converting to MP3 should be the final step in production, and only then if you really need the fin...

Re: Noise Removal effect preview affected by Gain slider

Update: This is now recorded on our bug tracker. I think this issue could be resolved relatively easily for a single track, but I don't see a good solution for previewing multiple tracks. As this seems to only affect one of the effects included in Audacity, it could possibly be treated as a special ...

Re: Noise Removal effect preview affected by Gain slider

I can see why this happens, but it is less clear what should be done about it. Essentially the problem is that the Noise Removal effect is incompatible with the way that Audacity implements effect preview. Audacity is able to apply an effect to multiple selected tracks. It does so by selecting each...

Re: Noise Removal effect preview affected by Gain slider

When using Noise Removal, it appears that neither Get Noise Profile nor applying the effect is affected by the track's Gain slider, but Preview is. I can see why this happens, but it is less clear what should be done about it. Do you agree that it is the Preview that is wrong and that the applied e...

Re: Several Questions (Auto Align tracks,Boolean Op...)

The next version of Audacity includes some simple "spectral edit" tools that allow boosting and cutting parts of the sound based on frequency, using the track Spectrogram views . The (pre-release version) manual pages for these new tools are here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Spectra...

Re: Several Questions (Auto Align tracks,Boolean Op...)

I guess that in paid pro sound solutions there is a way to even isolate a particular voice or instrument according to a clean sample. There is also " Melodyne " (if your pockets are deep enough). The problem with vocal remover is that you can't select a particular point of panning to be i...

Re: Fledgling voice artist seeking counsel.

I've received an off-forum suggestion for something else to check. As far as we are aware, the only place in Windows 8.x to set the recording level for a Blue Snowball microphone is in the Windows Sound Control Panel . However, some microphones (such as the Blue Yeti) there is a third place - a &quo...
