Re: Help with editing recording
If you can't help, then it's useless attaching it. I am trying to just make it clear and audible. and we can't advise you how to improve the recording, or even if it will be possible to improve the recording, until we know exactly what the problem is. My guess is that your recording is a really bad...

Re: Buzz on Recording, Not Sure What to Do
Laptop is plugged directly into the wall (against my better judgement) and the preamp is in a surge protector on a different outlet. Try plugging them into adjacent sockets on a double socket outlet. Better or worse? How about if you unplug your laptop from the mains adaptor and run it on batteries...

Re: Buzz on Recording, Not Sure What to Do
Do you have a multi-socket extension (power) cable? If you do, plug the extension cable into the surge protector, then plug both the laptop and the preamp into the extension cable. Does that reduce the amount of hum? Also, try recording with the pre-amp at its normal recording settings, but without ...

Re: Buzz on Recording, Not Sure What to Do
We can't have this both ways. If the posted hum sample is typical as you said, It is "typical" of really severe mains hum. As with any kind of noise reduction, how effective the repair can be depends on the severity of the noise - assuming that Gutei has not exaggerated the problem by rec...

Re: Regular Interval Labels - cannot handle large files
OK so I would suggest tracking this on our Bugzilla, unless you are just going to do it, of course. ;) Are there any other Nyquist plugins that would benefit from a similar change? Several of the shipped plugins are likely to benefit from updating. I was planning to update Regular Interval Labels a...

Re: Buzz on Recording, Not Sure What to Do
That advice seems to contradict http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/notch_filter.html somewhat that suggests with patience you could notch all the harmonics as well as the fundamental (by implication without major damage to the sound). If there are only a few noticeable harmonics, then yes, with p...

Re: Regular Interval Labels - cannot handle large files
Sorry Robert can you explain that in more detail. What are you suggesting can be changed? OK my name's not Robert, but what he is (correctly) saying is that once Audacity 2.1 is released, this limitation can be easily fixed. Audacity 2.1 supports version 4 plugins, which give Nyquist access to addi...

Re: Buzz on Recording, Not Sure What to Do
The buzz is a classic example of "mains hum" . I would guess that you are in North America as the hum is made up of 60 Hz + multiples (harmonics) of 60 Hz. fullwindow-Frequency Analysis-000.png As you can see, those spikes in the spectrum (the buzz) go up from 60 Hz to over 3000 Hz. Becaus...

Re: No ASIO support?
ASIO is not enabled in official release builds due to licensing reasons (see: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Features_We_Can%27t_Implement#Licensing_restrictions) What are you trying to record? What equipment are you using? Which version of Audacity? (see pink text box above) Which version of Win...
