Re: Waveform display unchanged after gain or envelope change
How about also a virtual amplitude representation based on the gain slider scale? 8-) A couple of years ago someone did start writing new code for Audacity for the purpose of visually representing the audio "as played" (rather than "as per the audio data", which it does now). Th...

Re: laut noise in new version 2.6 but not in Beta 1.3
This seems to be a common problem with USB mics.grandad wrote:My only problem remains, is that the voice is low and the recording spikes do no go up high enough.
How close are you to the mic?
What sort of recording are you making? Audiobook? Podcast? Unaccompanied jazz singing?

Re: Case Study about DAWs (Query) - Only 4 questions help me
the theme is "Free or Low cost DAWs for emergent studios." You will need to take some care with your definitions. Audacity is not usually classed as a "DAW". Audacity is a "multi-track audio editor", and as such has a different feature set from most "DAWs". F...

Re: expand single track to 2 track
Is it possible to export as 2 track what is input as 1 track? Essentially, just copy the left (or right) track as synchronized right (or left) track so that both speakers of a stereo system provide sound. A 1 track (mono) recording will play through both left and right speakers. I assume that you h...

Re: Exporting @ 320Kbps with lesser input
I previously had Version 2.03 I presume that you mean "2.0.3" (there has never been a "2.03" version from us). Before the crash, exports ALWAYS occurred @ 320Kbps The default for MP3 export in Audacity 2.0.3 was "128kbps CBR" (same as for Audacity 2.0.6). Audacity 2.0....

Re: .AU files should be named sequentially (Audacity crashed
Is there ANY benefit to the highly convoluted file naming? The current "highly convoluted" system is actually very simple in terms of code (which does the work). Picking an unused random number is both easy and very fast and avoids needing to track which number was used last (and avoids o...

Re: laut noise in new version 2.6 but not in Beta 1.3
The Audacity 1.3.x series versions are obsolete and no longer supported. I downloaded the latest version and it makes a loud noise when recording. You will need to be much more detailed about what you are doing, what equipment you are using (including your version of Windows), and what is happening....

Re: Waveform display unchanged after gain or envelope change
changing the gain setting on the left never does - why's that? The waveform is a visual representation of the track audio data. The track gain slider (very usefully) does not alter the audio data. The gain slider simply scales the data during playback and mix/render (it's like a 'volume control' fo...

The sound systems are different, but Audacity is pretty much the same on both.jnquick wrote:I see that Audacity works with both, but are there differences in its functionality between the two operating systems?

Re: How to Export Individual Tracks in Place within Song?
Is there any possible way to export the individual tracks WITH all the silence that comes before it within the song? If I remember correctly, Audacity used to do that at one time, but then someone (???) decided that it would be better if it didn't. The workaround is to generate a little silence at ...
