Re: Rename multiple tracks at once
Or do you mean the interface would be like Labels Editor - one row for the old and new name for each track? I rather like that idea. I imagine it as: A "properties" editor for tracks, in which there is a table, with columns for: Name, icon, track number, Pan, Gain, Mute, Solo, (Play butto...

Re: Recording stops when using playback in another window 2.
If we are being "strictly accurate", that isn't Audacity playing - it's Nyquist playing.Robert J. H. wrote:Which isn't strictly true either.

Re: Case Study about DAWs (Query) - Only 4 questions help me
Steve, can you explain this a little more? I'm not totally clear on what signal routing means, Basically it is about managing where audio streams come from and where they go to ("route" as in going from one place to another). This can include handling "insert effects", "aux...

Just to clarify that a bit.kozikowski wrote:Audacity will not run two different instances of itself.
Audacity can have more than one "project" open at a time, but there is only ever one "Audacity" at a time.
In short, you can't be recording in one project while playing another project.

If you are using a USB audio device, see here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/fa ... k.html#usb
Also, please be careful using Windows XP. Microsoft no longer support it, which makes it a dangerously insecure operating system.

Re: Waveform display unchanged after gain or envelope change
On a slightly different tack but still with visual aids in mind. I see that there are a few votes for a grid option over the waveform. I'd vote for that I've added your vote. What are the chances of this being implemented. Realistically, it all depends on whether there is someone that has the time,...

Re: Help for a newbie. Using Audacity in a psychology experi
As it stands, your question is very vague. I would suggest that you try using Audacity (the current version is 2.0.6 and is available free here: http://audacityteam.org/download/), then if you get stuck, ask about the specific thing that you are having difficulty with. Note that the user manual is i...

Re: Increased Functionality of Generate Silence
I think what would be really helpful is some kind of “simple, getting harder” approach to this. Is there a resource like that? Hey, don't complain - when I started with this there was the Nyquist manual and not much else ;) :D Getting started with Nyquist: Do you have a good "plain text" ...

Re: Rename multiple tracks at once
Nyquist cannot currently change the track name, but that is something that we hope it will be able to do in a future version of Audacity.
