Re: Timer Record automatic saving in Audacity 2.1.0

Play Region > Lock can lock the recording region if that locked region is the selection region, the same as it can lock the playback region (as currently called) if that selection is used for playback. I'm not quite following you. Do you mean that "Play Region > Lock" could "lock the...

Re: how do I create a 4 channel file for quad. sound in auda

I read somewhere else that all one needed to do was to go to the Preferences menu and then to "File Formats" The manual is probably the most reliable information. "Edit > Preferences > Import / Export " then un-check "Always mix all tracks down to stereo or mono channel(s)&...

Please see the text in the pink box above.
We can't help you without knowing your operating system version, Audacity version, and exactly what "trouble" you are having.

Gale Andrews wrote:the difference with current Envelope Tool being that you would only be operating on a region.
The main difference is usability. To silence a region is as quick and convenient as CTRL+L - much quicker, more convenient and less RSI than using the Envelope tool.

Re: GSnap vst plugin is not shown in effects

Is GSnap is compatible with XP SP2?
The oldest version of Windows that I have tried it on was XP SP3.
XP SP2 became obsolete on 13th July 2010

Re: Timer Record automatic saving in Audacity 2.1.0

Step 5 carries on recording past the selection if Overdub is off, so I assume carrying on recording for the Step 6 scenario (even if Overdub is on) has the same cause. Yes, that appears to be the case. According to the Manual, "Play Region" has the specific meaning of either "Quick-P...

Re: Make "Silence Audio" non-destructive

By what method would you undo the non-destructive silence if you wanted to unsilence it without undoing the edits you did after silencing? If it a feature of the Amplitude Envelope, then you would probably switch to the Envelope tool. In the "Envelope" there could be some sort of visual i...

Re: redusing file size

You want the entire file to be 1 minute long, yes? If so: 1) Open Audacity 2) Generate 1 minute of silence (Generate menu) 3) Import your 5 second audio clip (File menu > Import Audio). It will appear below the "silence" track. 4) Use the Time Shift tool to slide the 5 second clip left/rig...
