Re: Shrink MP3 file
Starting from the same perfect WAV quality, a 32-bit mono MP3 will sound the same as a 64 bit stereo. When you say "32-bit mono" vs "64 bit stereo", I presume that you mean "32 kbps" vs "64 kbps". There is no such thing as "32 bit" or "64 bit&q...

If there is some clean silence between the tracks you can use Silence Finder to mark the gaps: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/si ... ml#silence

Re: Real-time FFT (Audacity or other application)?
Do you know a way to get a real-time FFT (spectrogram) in Audacity or any other application available for Linux? I have found many ways to view spectograms of recorded audio, but I'd like to have it real-time for voice analysis. While it looks pretty cool to see a real-time FFT "scope" ju...

Re: Unable to open audacuty project file :(
I don’t know how smart Audacity would need to be to be able to identify the AUP file extension and open its own AUP (Project) files through drag & drop. From a non-programmer's point of view, this seems an easy thing to do. It would help a lot more than the current message inviting users to “tr...

Re: Unable to open audacuty project file :(
"Open" for projects.
"Import" for audio files.
Audacity projects are not audio files. See here for more information about Audacity projects: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/au ... jects.html

Re: Track Syncronization
If you zoom in close enough you should be able to align to the exact sample position (better than 0.03 milliseconds if the sample rate is 44100). See here for how to zoom: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/zooming.html I generally find the easiest way to quickly zoom in and out is to use Ctrl+Mou...

Re: Removing silent spaces
In real world audio, absolute silence hardly ever occurs. What we call "silence" is usually just very very quiet audio. Anything below about -70 dB (minus 70) is virtually "silence". In Audacity, absolute silence can occur. "Gaps" as shown in your screenshot are absolut...

Re: Removing silent spaces
I need to remove any kind of silence in any kind of lengh of silence that is presence in the track that Audacity created when I split sections of a track and live empty space between them. Same as if I would introduce silence myself. Sorry but your meaning is not clear. "Splitting" a trac...

Re: Tutorial request for Gideon's voice (From The Flash CW)?
How about this? Gideon-voice.wav 1) Start with a recording that sounds like Morena Baccarin's voice 2) Apply the Delay effect with settings shown below. (http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/delay.html) 3) Apply Reverb effect with settings shown below. (http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/reverb.ht...
