Re: Documentation suggestions

3. Suggestion: Add an "audacity-doc" package, which contains the manual (http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/unzipping_the_manual.html), to the daily-build PPA http://launchpad.net/~audacity-team/+archive/ubuntu/daily. You would need to raise that with the PPA maintainer (Benjamin Drung ...

Re: Documentation suggestions

2. How to switch from waveform to spectrogram display doesn't seem to be indicated on http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Spectrogram_View. True, but it is mentioned at the top of the main "Audio Tracks" page: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Audio_Tracks There is quite a lot of cross-re...

Re: Documentation suggestions

Could this fact about the "Audio to buffer" setting be added to the FAQ http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq.html, in the Playback section? Maybe something like: Q: Why do very short audio selections (less than 1 second) not play at all, or only a tiny bit of the end of them plays? A:...

Re: questions re: stereo = balanced vs unbalanced = mono?, T

You need 2 pairs of 1/4" mono jack to RCA plug cables.
Avoid using adaptors - they are not reliable - use the correct cables (leads).

Re: jump to adjacent clip

Is this type of navigation capability (without labels) something that might be added to future versions? Jumping from clip to clip is a pretty standard navigation option in most DAWs. I know Audacity is not a DAW per se, but it would be a nice option to have. Well I think it's a good idea ;) I'm su...

Re: Real-time FFT (Audacity or other application)?

The problem is not the FFT but the GUI and the ability to deal with various sound input sources. That's why I thought an Audacity plugin approach might be reasonable. The main problem with that approach in Audacity is that until very recently, Audacity has had virtually no support for doing things ...

Re: Cannot save Project, Exporting Only last Few Minutes of

The current version of Audacity is 2.0.6, available here: http://audacityteam.org/download/ There have been lots of bug fixes since 2.0.2, so definitely worth updating (even if it does not solve this specific problem). Note that the maximum valid size for a WAV file is 4 GB. You may sometimes get aw...

Re: Splitting LCR recording into 3 tracks.

"LCR" has become a buzz word over the past 5 years or so. As with many other fads, it is based on an old concept, then divorced from its original purpose. The original purpose was much like M/S recording (mid-side), which is described on Wikipedia here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joint_...
