Re: Cannot record PC sounds using Audacity 2.4.2
I downloaded Audacity from Apple app store. That's not an official version of Audacity. There are plans to put Audacity in Apple Store (and Windows Store) but we have not done so yet. If you wish to continue using that version you must contact the supplier for support because we have no information...

Re: Export/convert WAV to Opus
Support for Opus has only very recently been added to Audacity, but unfortunately is doesn't work yet on macOS.
I notice that there was an update yesterday in the development version of Audacity that "may" fix this, but I've not yet had chance to check.

It sounds like that audio clip has already been processed, which makes it extremely difficult to diagnose what the original problem might have been.
If you still have the original, un-processed recording, we could take a look at that.

Re: Recording Hi-Res via Wasapi Loopback
I have used dbpoweramamp in the past to batch resample, set to 32 bit float, set to 16 bit and then add triangular dither with good results. I was hoping with Audacity I could cut out the middle man. Yes you should be able to cut out the middle man. Audacity's resampling is excellent quality. By de...

Re: 2.4.2 on Catalina 10.15.7: no sound on recording
AUDACITY is not shown in the Security & Privacy -> Privacy -> Microphone. It doesn't show up there. Ensure that you have Audacity version 2.4.2. Apple now require that applications are "notarized", but older versions of Audacity are not notarized, whereas 2.4.2 is. If you are unsure w...

Does your mac have a built-in mic? (most laptops do, but the Mac Mini doesn't). If you are unsure, please say which model your Mac is.

Re: Recording audio on 24bits/96khz with Audacity
I hesitated to post a new topics just for that little question It's absolutely fine to start a new topic no matter how small the question. In fact it is preferred that you do. New topics are more likely to receive a quick reply, and it is a lot easier to follow conversations that are about one sing...

Re: Script to toggle mute/unmute for a clip?
1) to select the current clip (left arrow, right arrow, ctrl+,) The easiest way to select an audio clip is to double click on it. 2) determine if that clip is muted or not (content and/or amplitude check) That's quite tricky with macros. Can't you just look to see if the clip is grayed out? 3) if a...
Re: Interface
Lots of people do use the focusrite 2i2 with Audacity. Have you tried?
Ensure that the focusrite is connected to the computer before you launch Audacity.
