The selected language in the installer changes the language for the installer only and not the language for Audacity.
Audacity always defaults to the system language of the computer.

I was wondering if there would be a way to just not hear myself while recording? As you correctly deduced, "Software Playthrough" must be off (not selected). There may also be an option in the Windows Sound Control Panel to "listen to this device" - that option must also be off.

mostly, I am digitizing LPs. I have a good turntable and a professional CD recorder. Main issue is getting rid of crackles and pops without loosing the original sound quality.
