Audacity for Windows is only available as a 32 bit application.
Windows 7 x64 SP1 should be able to run 32 bit applications. Have you tried running it in compatibility mode?

Re: WAV import of a ZOOM H5 file fails (PCM, 16bit, LE, 44.1
The header is a little unusual for a WAV file, but looks "valid" and works fine here (Debian Wheezy, Audacity 2.1.0).
if you copy this test file to the same location as your ZOOM file, does this have the same problem or does it work OK?

Re: Reverb fow Audacity 2.0
Audacity 2.0 was superseded by 2.0.1 nearly three years ago. The current version (released today) is 2.1.0, which is available here: http://audacityteam.org/download/ (The site may be a bit slow for a while due to the huge surge in traffic following the new release). ANWIDA Soft DX Reverb lite works...

Re: play a file of an actual written *.wav file
OK, I understand. The answer is no you can't do that. Audacity does not directly work on the file that you select. Audacity "imports" the file into the current Audacity project - that is, it copies the audio data from the file (or in some cases it creates pointers to the audio data) and sa...

Re: WAV import of a ZOOM H5 file fails (PCM, 16bit, LE, 44.1
um, very kind of you to answer, but did you read my post? Yes I did, and nowhere did you say that the files had been copied to your hard drive. 1) I quoted the output of the "file" command on linux, which kind of implies that the H5 files were already on my "hard disk" (or at le...

Re: New Version 2.1.0?
Where do I get it and will it automatically overwrite the present version? Download it via the Audacity website: http://audacityteam.org/download/ If you chose the recommended installer, then running the installer will, by default, update any 2.x.x version of Audacity to 2.1.0. There will be an off...

Copy the files to your hard drive first, then check that they play OK in another application (such as Banshee, or whatever your default audio player), then import the hard drive copies into Audacity.

Re: play a file of an actual written *.wav file
I'm not sure exactly what you mean. If you mean, can you record while another track is playing, then yes you can. Just "Import" the track that you want to play along with, then start recording.
