Re: Panning question

If it's a one-off, the manual way is probably easiest. 1) Duplicate the track (select the track, then Ctrl+D) 2) Set the first track to "Left Channel" (see: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/audio_track_dropdown_menu.html) 3) Set the duplicate track to "Right Channel". 4) Appl...

Re: Change tempo without changing pitch

As an aside, I do find the way that the new tempo is specified a bit confusing, and wonder if it wouldn't be useful to have a field labelled as "Ratio of new tempo to original (0.5 to 2.0)" That would be possible, but I think there is a limit to the number of ways of specifying the same t...

Re: vynil plugin

If you only want the Vinyl effect, extract the ZIP file somewhere convenient, then look for the file "vinyl_1905.so" among the extracted files (there are over 90 effects in that zip archive and you probably do not want all of them). Then put the "vinyl_1905.so" file into one of t...

Re: Change tempo without changing pitch

The "Sliding Time Scale / Pitch Shift" effect takes a lot longer to process, but the sound quality is usually much better.

Re: 2.1.0 Won't Start Correctly on Win XP SP3

When you first launch Audacity, or if you rescan for new plugins, Audacity searches several specified locations. On Windows these are: The Audacity plug-ins folder in the location Audacity is run from: the "Plug-Ins" folder in the directory where Audacity resides - usually C:Program Files ...

Re: NO EXPORT MP3 IN FILE DROP DOWN

I'm guessing that you've recently updated from an ancient 1.2.x version? In the 2.x series (and the 1.3.x series before it), the "File > Save" menu item is for saving Audacity projects. To create a normal audio file, use "File > Export Audio". Because Audacity 2.x supports so man...

Both "Roxio" and "Nero" are global companies that specialise in digital media creation.
Audacity is a free, open source multi-track audio editor,

(Also, Nero WaveEditor is now free)

Re: 2.1.0 install fails with version error

Audacity 2.1.0 for Windows has been built with a later version of Microsoft visual studio. If your computer does not have sufficiently up to date run-time libraries, that could account for the problem. The developers were wanting to avoid breaking support for Windows XP as there are still such a hig...

Re: Audacity big Effects menu: (bug) and quick fix

In Audacity 2.1.0 you can categorise effects according to a number of criteria (such as grouping VSTs separate from LADSPA separate from Nyquist...) See: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/effects_preferences.html Also, on Windows you can jump down to the next plugin that starts with a particular ...
