Re: Files "Open" but then no sound.

Out of curiosity, do you happen to know why the "Open" messes up? Most probably you've got a PC maintenance program "helping" you by "cleaning" the temp folder. We've seen this problem occur with Norton 360, though that's probably not the only program to do it. If you ...

Re: Files "Open" but then no sound.

Try this:
Launch Audacity.
Save the new empty project to your Desktop using "File > Save Project As".
Then make a test recording.

What happens?

Re: Files "Open" but then no sound.

Check the location of Audacity's temp directory (see: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/di ... ences.html)
The temp folder needs to be somewhere that you have read/write access.

Re: Audacity manual permissions problem

Thanks for the report. Yes, the same happens for me with the "alternative" instructions, though the primary instructions work. This works: Try running a sudo unzip command from a terminal ( for example, sudo unzip ~/Desktop/audacity-manual-2.0.4.zip -d /usr/share/audacity/ ) but if I do: A...

Re: Tempo

You're not the first to be confused by this, and I'm sure you won't be the last ;) If you change the tempo by 25%, then the new tempo is 75% of the original tempo. That is, the new tempo is 75/100 times the original tempo, which is 3/4 of the original tempo. To "revert" to the original tem...

Re: Phase cancellation issue

In order for phase cancellation to work, the waveforms (the parts to be cancelled out) must be identical , and perfectly aligned . The solo piano at the start sounds very similar in both tracks, but to cancel out the waveforms must be identical. Here is a zoomed in view of part of the piano part in ...

Re: Garbled recording after 6 hours

Modern versions of Windows defragment themselves if the computer is left on and idle. but many people turn off their computers when not using them, in which case Windows has little time to defragment the disk and the disk contents can become fragmented, which reduces the number of large contiguous ...

Re: How does one merge AUP files ?

I've noticed that when I go back to revise a AUP file .. to edit somethings, delete small timing - playing errors etc, that the new file shows the latest revision date as 'TODAY' which is correct. However, by some quirk, the associated DATA file seems to retain the same date as when it was original...
