That is in part dependent on the recording software. Several of the ACX videos use ProTools. To get ProTools to record without drop-outs will often require as second, fast hard drive (separate from the system drive).

To record the sound that is playing through the speakers, set the recording input to record from the speakers (loopback) in the device toolbar like this:

I've had no problems using spinning drives, even for quite large multi-track projects (30+ tracks).

A slightly different effect that produce quite interesting voice timbre is to record yourself talking very slowly and then use the "Change Speed" effect. It takes a bit of practice to get the slow talking right, but this techniques was used in many old classics such as Pinky and Perky.

Audacity is multi-language. The language is automatically set to match the system language of the computer that it is running on, but you can override that and manually set the language that you require.
