Re: A short question about Envelope Tool and dither
I don't feel particularly proud of my ignorance, or annoying other users in general. I prefer to call it "learning" rather than "ignorance", and the forum helpers come here because they want to help their fellow Audacity users, so feel free to ask ;) 1. If I apply the env. tool ...

Re: ACC Export gone?
I think you may mean "AAC" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Audio_Coding)
It is listed as:
M4A (AAC) Files (FFmpeg)
As in previous versions of Audacity, FFmpeg needs to be installed for AAC export: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/fa ... tml#ffdown

Re: Old Experimental Theme Support

If anyone can shed some light on this please do. There are a lot of new features and enhancements in Audacity 2.1.0. As Audacity con...

Thanks for your feedback MichloIW, but while no-one seems willing to provide audio samples and full details of what problems they are encountering what can we do about it?

Re: Feedback when recording with imported audio
What are you recording? Are you recording vocals over a backing track? Are you using a USB mic? What settings do you have in the device toolbar?gertlers10 wrote: and record over it on a new track while listening to the imported mp3

Re: Audacity 2.1.0 Edit files without compress again
they were converted from .mp3 files. OK, so you already have two levels of quality loss (the quality lost from the original MP3 encoding, then additional loss from the Ogg encoding), and you want to avoid a third layer of quality loss. Ideally you would go back to the original uncompressed audio (t...

Note that to create an MP3 file you must "export" from Audacity. The "save" command only produces Audacity projects, not audio files.

Re: Silence isn't silent?
Is there a better software package for Linux for generating clean test signals in raw PCM or WAV format? I'll go with "no". Audacity is just about perfect for generating test tones. The question of whether or not to use dither depends on what you are trying to measure. This is not "a...
