Re: Audacity is recording using the wrong microphone

OK, so both Skype and Audacity are taking their input from PulseAudio (which is the default for your system). Do you have "PulseAudio Volume Control" installed? If not, install it using your preferred package manager - it's called "pavucontrol". Close Audacity and open Skype. Sta...

Re: Label Question

Ensure that "Snap To" is OFF (see: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/selection_toolbar.html#snap) If you click and drag on the waveform, there is a weak "snapping" of the selection to label positions. When the selection is exactly lined up with a label, a yellow vertical line ...

Where are you changing it?

What do you get from the command:

Re: does not save the complete file

do I have to do ctrl a, and then tell it to save export file? You would only need to do Ctrl+A if you do "Export Selected Audio". The normal "Export Audio" will export all non-muted tracks from the start of the first audio clip to the end of the last non-muted audio clip. if the...

Re: Audacity is recording using the wrong microphone

Look in Skype sound settings - what recording input is it using?
Then close Skype and ensure that it is not running in the background.

From the Audacity Help menu, select "Audio device info". Wait for the info box to appear and copy the full and complete contents into your reply.

Re: File size of single WAV vs. sum of 2 WAVs after splittin

My guess is that it is due to headers. I've never looked into this because a couple of hundred bytes is insignificant compared to hundreds of millions. If you are interested in perusing this you could open the files in a Hex editor (search on line for a free one if you don't already have one). WAV i...

Re: Problems with the new Noise Reduction replacing Noise Re

I was asking if the issue Steve raised prior to 2.1.0 was the artifacts in the processed sound, or if it was also that (whatever the length of the profile) the exact profile taken now affected the result more than in 2.0.6. I've not tested to see if the new effect is more sensitive to a poorly sele...
