Re: how do you record audio from a computer while wearing headphones?
in a zoom call Is that what you want to record? It is notoriously difficult / unreliable to record Zoom (or any other voip app) with Audacity. The easy and reliable way is to use Zoom's built-in record feature. If you mean you want to record something else (not Zoom), then please say what you want ...

Re: playing through a Behringer UMC22 no sound from my guitar
Direct monitoring should be independent of the computer (other than for power). Perhaps there's a problem with your leads, or something is not pressed that was pressed previously? Work through the entire signal chain from guitar to headphones to try and find where the signal disappears.

Re: right channel overlays left channel

The 2 Win10 machines have Audacity version 2.4.2, and the Win7 is running 2.3.3 The Thinkpad and the Precision receive both left and right channels...

Re: Audacity not working on MacOS Catalina
It is essential that they use the current Audacity 2.4.2 version of Audacity (available via the Audacity website: https://www.audacityteam.org/download/mac/). Older versions are likely to be blocked with a message about Audacity being "from an unidentified developer" or "not downloade...

noise floor registered at -70dB If you are also getting a peak (voice) signal of around -6 dB, then that is excellent and will make your post-recording work very much easier. There's just one room in my house where I can achieve that - all the other rooms are too noisy. Even then I sometimes have t...

Re: Voice isolation in a mono track
As I'm not a professional in audio forensics, I don't know what they use, (though I am aware of some of the products in that market). They would certainly have access to much more sophisticated (and expensive), purpose made software, but just as importantly they would have training and experience us...

I know you said you tried lots of options, but just to check, did you try with "host" set to "MME" in the Device Toolbar?

Re: Missing audio data block files error
Any idea what happened, Sorry, no idea in this case - it could have been anything. Computers are incredibly complex machines, and working with audio (or video) pushes them quite hard because there is so much data being moved around. mostly removing dead air Perhaps the "Truncate Silence" ...

Re: AUDACITY CREATING UNWANTED SILENCES
'Pseudo Stereo' is a "Nyquist effect". One of the limitations of Nyquist effects is that they treat empty track space as if it was silence. Thus if the selection includes empty track space, it will be converted to silence by Nyquist effects. You may be able to work around this limitation b...
