Re: What option to choose?
The problem with this interface is that it doesnt support XLR mics That is a big problem if you ever want to upgrade your microphone. Basically it would mean that if you wanted to upgrade your microphone you would also need a new mic pre-amp. As you're in Europe, you may be interested in the "...

Re: locked Play Region/cursor
I would have heard that dum de when I amplified it. You're missing the point. If you want to start talking at the right time, so as to avoid the need to time-shift after recording, then you need a cue. It's like a "count in" for a band: 1, 2, 3, 4 start playing. Even professional orchestr...

Re: problem with a plug-in (generate)
(setf pitch (step–to–hz)) "step-to-hz" converts a MIDI note number ("step") into Hz. For example, A4 is MIDI note number 69 and the frequency of a sine wave at A4 is 440 Hz (standard tuning). (print (step-to-hz 69)) ; prints 440 (print (hz-to-step 440)) ; prints 69 (step-to-hz) ...

Re: "Wave Stats" plug-in
Waking up an old thread... I just finished a new cut on the "wave stats" plugin. Nice one flynwill, good to see this resurrected. I've tested it on ~40 minute stereo files, and it can give you the answer in about 30-40 seconds. Unfortunately if you go much bigger than that, Audacity will ...

Re: What option to choose?
The microphone inputs on most laptops are awful, so almost any external USB mic interface is likely to be a big improvement. You don't need to go to megabucks to get one that is reasonably good, but you probably do need to go $75+. A "reasonable" USB mic preamp and a "not too dreadful...

Re: FFmpeg and Lame download links not working
The links in the manual are correct, and at time of writing this post are working. There was a report that the download site was a bit slow earlier today, but I've just checked and it's working fine now. FFmpeg: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#ffdown LAME: htt...

Re: Labeled tracks not being exported
>> more than one label track, only the uppermost I'm missing something. Yesterday, when I labeled six tracks (Ctl-B or -M), Export Multiple would create six files. Today, when I label six tracks, Export Multiple creates only one file. How do I get back to making a file for each label? If all of the...

Re: locked Play Region/cursor
To me the case you give is very odd. Why do I to need to hang around waiting the intro to play? The intro: "Dum de de da da da...." That's your cue to start talking: "... Welcome back to episode two of ...." Otherwise the common case (overdub) will require users to lock a transp...

Re: locked Play Region/cursor
No, recording should stop at 1 minute, as now -1 Example: You're making a podcast and you have a file for the intro + 20 seconds of background music that gradually fades out. You want the intro to be as loud as possible (0 dB peak) The job: To record your voice for several minutes, starting just af...

Re: Recordings at 192 kHz very faulty
To the best of my belief, for several reasons this can only be explained by a bug in Audacity: I don't use Mac OS X, but I do take more than a passing interest in all discussions on this forum. If I've got this right, you have a unique 24 bit 192 kHz Class 2 USB audio interface, and sometimes it do...
