Re: Adding a new feature

The developers are looking toward making the Effect menu customisable in future releases of Audacity, but that could be a way off yet. In the meantime you could create keyboard shortcuts to those effects that you need to access regularly. See: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/keyboard_preference...

Re: Tagging specific frequency signatures

I'm not even sure I care if the scan confuses some fool & his ball bat beating on a steel door with barking dogs. More precision would be nice but dogs usually bark for a reason - that's worth looking at. Surely something out there can note the difference between that & the neighbor's spook...

Re: Anything I import to audacity is empty!

Check the location of the Audacity temp folder by looking in "Edit > Preferences > Directories". The temp folder must exist and must be writeable for your log-in. If necessary, select a new location for which you have read/write permission (and has plenty of free space). The temp directory...

Re: SAL broken in 2.1.0

This should be fixed now in our source code and 2.1.1-alpha "nightly builds". Unfortunately not completely fixed (but mostly fixed). There is one small issue that remains, which is that keywords must be in lower case. According to the Nyquist manual, SAL should be case insensitive, but du...

Use a microphone on a mic stand (even a makeshift mic stand) and use a pop-shield (even a makeshift pop-shield).
