Re: Cannot remove 0.1 sec trailing silence
If I select the silence and delete it, then export the file, the 0.1 second silence is inexplicably back again in the exported file. Is there a way to override this? No. It's a limitation of the MP3 format. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MP3#Design_limitations "Encoder/decoder overall delay is n...

Re: MIcrophone
Microphone + speakers is a recipe for disaster. If you are recording with a mic and the sound comes through speakers, the mic will pick up the sound from the speakers and at best will create a hollow echoey sound. At worst it will scream with feedback. Please state which version of Windows you are u...

Re: Analyse Frequency Changes and Increase Sampling Rate
4. I tried to compare both graphs, their dB levels are very different. In fact, average differences are about 10dB for the ENTIRE frequency range, and can go up to 50dB That's to be expected if the recorded samples were fairly short. Slightly simplifying things (ignoring window type and overlap), l...

Re: Set of basic effects
I don't think we have so many shipped effects right now that we need to hide any of them. I think that we were a bit at cross-purposes, but if I now understand you correctly I can appreciate your point. In terms of the question that I posed at the start of this topic, "your list" is this ...

Re: Digitizing 4 channel audiobook
I was trying to post to to another question and help that person. This is my first post and I didn't know that it would put my comment on my thread instead of as a response to the other thread. Never mind. We appreciate it when people try to post in the appropriate place as it helps us to work effe...

Re: What bit rate do I use when exporting audio from a video
Which is better, Video to Audacity to MP3 and FLAC, or Video to FLAC (online) then to Audacity to MP3, or does it matter? We have no way of knowing how the online conversion from video to FLAC is being done or what the quality will be like. Best thing is to try it, see which sounds better. If there...

Re: Can no longer record streaming radio from external DAC-t
I'm trying to identify what devices you actually have in your computer.
HDA Intel HDMI - on-board sound chip ?
HDA NVidia: HDMI - Video card audio out?
SAA7134 - TV card?
Does that sound right?
Where's the ASUS Xonar D2/PM sound card?
Is this a computer that you built / upgraded?

Re: Un highlight area
Ensure that you click on the actual waveform, not on the "ruler" (the "Timeline") that is above the audio tracks.
Clicking on the Timeline is a "quick-play" feature that allows you to quickly play any part of the project.

Re: Set different out to each track
No. Audacity can only play a maximum of two channels through one device.mrmotown wrote:With Audacity it is possible to set a different output
to each track
You may be able to do what you want with a DAW application such as Reaper, Sonar, Cubase or similar.
