Re: guitar rig 5 dll cannot be detected in audacity effect

Installed vst bridge for audacity (didn't have it before). No benefit. You should remove VST bridge. That was for long obsolete versions of Audacity. Instructions for installing VST effects in the current 2.1.0 version of Audacity are here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installation_and_...

Re: Bug: default sample format ignored for imports

Do you envisage making "Store at Default Sample Format" a preference, off by default, or get rid of Default Sample Format? I envisage removing the preferences and storing the data in the lowest format that can do so losslessly (except when saving a compressed copy of the project). This is...

Re: Bug: default sample format ignored for imports

One behaviour I do I disagree with is that 24-bit WAV imports as 32-bit float when Default Sample Format is 24-bit. So I assume you disagree too, but for different reasons? This is where the detail is important. Converting to a higher bit-depth just pads the numbers with more zeros, making the data...

I agree. The displayed bit-depth is meaningless and confusing so no point displaying it.

Oops, no, I meant Ogg

Re: whats wrong with audacity stereo?

Audacity works fine with stereo.
When recording, ensure that Audacity is set to record "2 channels (stereo)" in the device toolbar, and ensure that your capture device is set to record 2 channel stereo in the Windows Sound Control Panel.

Re: Bug: default sample format ignored for imports

Steve here thinks likewise Steve has a "similar" view, but not quite the same (more below). But if you have a 16-bit track, process it at 32-bit float then return it to the track as 32-bit float rather than 16-bit, what does the Track Info say? That is a spurious argument because the Trac...

I think that is the clue. Check that you have not accidentally enabled "Sync Lock" (see: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/ed ... .html#link)

Use the Time Shift tool to slide the second track to the right.

Re: NEED HELP! Guitar Recording with Peavey X-Port Interface

According to thePeavey website:
We also include the REAPER™ digital audio workstation software,
So I would guess that ReValver works with Reaper.

You can still edit with Audacity if you prefer. Just export your recordings from Reaper as WAV files, then import them into Audacity for editing.
