If they don't have hardware capable of working in 32 bit float, then they probably won't get far with 16 bit either.

Re: Why does stereo track sound funny if you invert one chan

Inverting a track reverses the "phase" of the audio (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phase_%28waves%29#Phase_shift) The relative phase of what the left ear hears and what the right ear hears is one of the mechanisms by which we gain positional information about the source of the sound. Revers...

Re: Audacity on Ubuntu exhibits transport bug

Glad that you now have it working, though I disagree that Patchage is "garbage". Patchage can be a very useful tool when working with Jack Audio System. You don't need to use Jack Audio System, so Patchage is inappropriate for your needs. A spanner is "garbage" if you need a hamm...

Re:First track fine every following track distorted [SOLVED]

One more question.. Generally we prefer one question per topic. Doing so makes it much easier for other users to find relevant solutions in the forum, and makes the thread much easier for everyone to follow. how do I keep the setting on the Audacity lower left at 48000 and not 41100 that it keeps d...

You may find the "Crossfade Tracks" version easier to work with. That version now allows preview and is the more powerful of the two effects.

Re: Transferring Cassette tapes to Audacity 2.0.5

I found the audacity-data folder No, that is "audacity-data" not ".audacity-data" The dot at the start of the file/folder name makes it a hidden file/folder. To make hidden files/folders visible, select the relevant option from the View menu of your file browser. Just for giggle...

Re: Transferring Cassette tapes to Audacity 2.0.5

You could try resetting Audacity.
To do that, find the file "audacity.cfg" which is located in ~/.audacity-data/
(note that ".audacity-data" is a hidden folder).
Delete the file "audacity.cfg" to reset Audacity.

Re: Transferring Cassette tapes to Audacity 2.0.5

Am I supposed to be using the blue line in on my computer or the green microphone line in? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sound_card#Color_codes For a tape player you should be using "line in". I am wondering if there are some compatibility issues with this version and linux mint 17 mate. H...

Re: Verbal Protocol Analysis - Recording/Pausing Multiple Au

You 'may' be able to run a separate media player, though the more that is running on the computer the greater the risk of stuttering or other problems in the recording. (Foobar2000 is quite light on resources). Give it a try and see how it goes. You can add a marker in Audacity while recording by pr...
