Re: Suddenly no audio while playing an AUP/MP3 file

Audacity didn't complain If audio data is missing from a project, Audacity displays an error message "Warning missing audio data block file(s)...." and offers three choices: Close Audacity immediately with no further changes Treat missing audio as silence (this session only) Replace missi...

Re: Timeless (blank) vs Empty (lined) Track Parts?

After exporting separate edited tracks I find that when reloading them later, the time line has changed from the blank sections not being saved? Yes that's correct. It was in my opinion an unfortunate design decision. Is the only way to retain the correct time location of an edited track to generat...

Re: Playback noise when video playing in background

The crackling and popping occurs due to the computer struggling to keep up with the audio data. I don't use a Mac. but perhaps the retina display requires more processing power for video playback than a normal display??? It is recommended to avoid doing anything on the computer that is CPU intensive...

Re: separte tracks when recording

No. During capture, Audacity records only*. Any processing or editing is done after the recording is completed.

* During recording you can create labels (http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/label_tracks.html) and you can adjust the gain / pan of other tracks that may be playing.

Yes, on Windows, but Mac computers still don't have a proper right-mouse-button.

In Audacity, use F5 key to switch to the time shift tool and F1 to switch back to the selection tool.

Re: separating tracks

"Cannot export audio to C:\Program Files (x86)\Audacity..." You need to export to a location that is writeable for your account. "C:\Program Files (x86)\" is not writeable for a standard user account. Try exporting to somewhere that is writeable, for example to you "Documen...

Re: Spectrum Comparisons

Audacity automatically adjusts the x/y axes to fit the data. I agree that this is not useful when you want to compare spectra. The next version of Audacity (2.1.1) goes some way to improving this as it allows you to zoom the Y axis (dB). It does not completely resolve the issue but it is a step in t...

Re: How do I edit multitrack

As described in the tutorial that I suggested (http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tutorial_mixing_a_narration_with_background_music.html#import) if you use "File menu > Import > Audio" then files will be imported as tracks in the same project. If the files that you want to use are in the...

Re: Accidentally changed track display -- how do I get it ba

Is there any problem with downloading the latest Audacity on another computer and then copying the .exe file to my Audacity computer and installing it there? No problem with that. Of course you need to download the version that is appropriate for the computer that it will run on (not the computer t...

Re: .SES files

From Audition, export each track as a separate WAV file, but ensure that all tracks start at the same time - pad the start of tracks with silence if necessary. The WAV tracks can then be imported into Audacity. Note the Audition has different effects to Audacity so any effects they are using need to...
