Re: A bug with WAV resampling?
I have attached a couple of the WAV files that I resampled from 8000Hz to 16000Hz. The bigger file became about twice as big, and the smaller file became about four times bigger than an original file. My expectations were that both will about double its original size. Pleas also attach the originals.

Re: Does opening a wav file with audacity degrade it?
"Out of the box" Audacity will default to using 16-bit integers as it's working space. (I think the actual effects operations will still be done floating point, but after each effect the result is converted back to the default 16-bit integers). If you want to work in 32-bit float by defau...

Re: Mac: Audacity recording slider greyed out on maximum
I trashed my test files, so no precise measurement. There was a visible signal, which looks like it would take about 9dB of amplification to get "right." Given that we generally recommend recording with a peak level of around -6 dB (for 16-bit recording), the recording level sounds as if ...

Re: Actual tone frequency
My assumption is what I mark with that green line indicating the height of tone frequency. The frequency is the "brightest" part of the spectrum. With your current settings it only shows that frequency is "somewhere around" 200 to 700 Hz. Increase the "Window size" (&q...

If you set the switch to "No Gain", how much level are you getting in Audacity? (how much amplification do you need to apply "after the fact"?)gd0 wrote:there is a simple Gain / No Gain switch. Of course, Gain clips and No Gain would require amplifying after the fact.

Re: Trouble with split stereo track and make mono
Audacity version numbers have three parts, for example 2.1.0 or 2.0.1. All three parts are important. If you have "2.1" then it is not a genuine version.eastcoastrob wrote:I'm using 2.1
