Perhaps you could automate that step using the Auto Duck effect: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/auto_duck.html

Re: Audacity keeps converting my 24 bit samples to 32 bit fl

I thought that there were some large 24-bit numbers that did not have exact 32-bit float equivalents: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=117447#p117447. Strictly speaking, that is correct, but for signals below 0 dB the error is insignificant (we're talking about precision that is hundre...

Re: Can't repeat 1 times on Audacity 2.1.1

My suggestion if you recall was to add "to add" OR add the current selection length. Cool, then I'll go for adding the current selection length. I think it should remember the last setting in the next Audacity session. This should make more sense for those creating loops, as well as being...

Re: need advice re96/32float recording

Did you try it with default settings before you tried with your custom settings? If not, try resetting preferences (reinstall and select "Reset Preferences" during the installation), then try recording with default settings. What hardware are you using? Which exact version of Audacity (loo...

Re: All playback now high-speed

Looks like your computer sound system is faulty.
Which Linux distribution are you using and which version?
Anything special about your hardware?
Do you know what sort of sound card you have?

Re: Cut and Paste Waveforms Among Different Tracks

The first is this (and I really shouldn't really lead off with this because it's the one that makes me furious--- but I'll get over it) . I know my forum registration and password are correct and yet after numerous tries, the system won't let me in. Then, of all the stupid things, it wants me to po...

Re: Audacity keeps converting my 24 bit samples to 32 bit fl

I think it's a bug, though fortunately a harmless one. Audacity works internally in 32-bit float format, so generally it is better to work in 32-bit float format so as to reduce the number of format conversions. I have logged this on the bug tracking system, but I would recommend that you change the...

Re: How good audacity behaves in Multitrack projects?

I would like to know: How many tracks does audacity support? It mostly depends on your hardware. I'm on an old dual core Linux laptop and it can easily handle a song with 30+ tracks, As a test I've had it running with over 100 tracks, though it is starting to get sluggish with that many tracks. Aud...

Re: Can't repeat 1 times on Audacity 2.1.1

Don't most other effects remember the last used setting when re=opening Audacity Yes. But in this case I think I would be minded to favour reversion to the default setting of 1 repeat. We can have it either way - we just need to decide. I'm mildly in favour of remembering the last setting, mostly o...
