Re: Decimal places in effect settings
I expect it will be years before we see logarithmic sliders. Not necessarily ;) The poster who wants 2 decimal places in Normalize must have a reason for asking, The user that wants 192 kHz sample rate for audio recording has a "reason", but it is not a reason supported by physical facts....

Re: Do I really need a mixer if...
A mixer becomes important when you need to be able to mix multiple live streams - for example, if you want to interview someone, and play CDs, and do it all "live" (in real time), then you would want a mixer. On the other hand, if you record each thing separately and mix them later (in &qu...

Re: Decimal places in effect settings
Are there any other effects that need their range or precision updating to allow for the new validation?

Re: Decimal places in effect settings
might disallowing values outside the slider range be a bit of a backwards step? I see it as half a step back so that we can take a full step forward. Audacity is the only audio editor that I know of that does not have any logarithmic slider controls. This is not because we "can't" have th...

Re: The problem with effect "Normalize".
The "Level" control in Bass and Treble is very closely related to the Normalize effect. In fact, it performs an identical function to the "Normalize amplitude to:" control. Both have 0.1 dB precision, which in my opinion is more than adequate. If we go along with the argument tha...

Re: Decimal places in effect settings
Also worth noting that the Audacity Limiter has a "Limit to;" setting, not a "threshold" setting. When using the default "Soft Limiter" the threshold (the level at which the effect starts to act) is several dB below the "limit to" level. The reason for using a...

Re: Decimal places in effect settings
I thought Robert did so (fractional dB can be heard in multiple tracks)? I thought that was with reference to the Amplify effect (in which case I agree, which is why I propose increasing the maximum number of decimal places in the Amplify effect from 2 to 3). And as I said, different decimal places...

Re: Need help with recording system sound
The current version of Audacity is 2.1.1 (available here: http://web.audacityteam.org/download/windows) If you select "WASAPI" as the "host" in the device toolbar , there will be a "loopback" option in the recording settings. See here for more details: http://manual.aud...

Re: The problem with effect "Normalize".
The options for the "Phaser" effect are now limited to one decimal place. I am unhappy. Which version were you using previously? I've gone back as far as Audacity 2.0.0 and it looks like the frequency has always been limited to a minimum of 0.1 Hz :? Yes you could enter lower values (like...
