Re: Hard Limiter not working on 2.1.1
Try the new "Limiter" effect http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/limiter.html I'd suggest setting of: Type: Hard Limit Input Gain: 0 (both channels if stereo) Limit to (dB): -0.5 Hold (ms): 10 (default) Apply makeup gain: No (default) This should give very similar results to your previous...

Re: Changing Pitch without affecting anything else
I am wondering how to change the pitch of a song (in my case slow it down to sound deep..) without changing anything else in the song. You mean, change the pitch without changing the tempo? You can do that with the "Change Pitch" effect. or a higher quality but a bit more complex effect: ...

Re: How to NOT create a new track when overdubbing?
I agree, it's pretty essential for a DAW. Audacity is not a DAW, it's a multi-track audio editor. I would love Audacity to have such an ability, but it's not planned for the near future. Perhaps I'll need to improve my C++ skills ;) (unless you know anyone that is (a) a really good C++ developer (b)...

Re: How to NOT create a new track when overdubbing?
Is there a reason Audacity does this? The short answer is that Audacity does not yet have "virtual" tracks or track groups. If you look at how DAWs handle this, usually it is to produce "track layers" in one way or another. That is, a single audio track can carry multiple "...

Re: How to NOT create a new track when overdubbing?
new track gets created every time you want to overdub Yes that is correct. the fact that is takes up so much monitor space. You can "collapse" the tracks to minimise their vertical height (View menu). Imagine recording drums with 4 mics. With a 4 channel sound card? Are you using a 4 chan...

Re: 64 Bit install
It would mean that those Nyquist plugins that put all the audio data into RAM while processing would be able to use much larger selections without crashing (though we should fix that issue anyway). Unfortunately it wouldn't help. The Nyquist library is a third party library developed at CMU, and it...

Re: 64 Bit install
A good idea to develop 64-bit version of Audacity. If we had unlimited developers, then I might agree, but that is not the case. Even if we did provide a 64-bit build, some of the libraries that Audacity uses are 32-bit, so it would still not be fully 64-bit. We would still need to provide a 32-bit...

Re: not possible to open a new Audacity window
I guessed it would be something like that ;) Audacity is designed to be a "multi-track" environment, so you can work with lots of tracks in one project. Generally this is both easier to manage and safer than working across multiple projects. Unfortunately we don't yet have a good tutorial ...

Re: Vocal removal for just one beat
Can you post an audio sample (just a few seconds in WAV format) that includes the bit that you are referring to.
Alternatively, send a link to the full 32 seconds of the original file.
See here for posting audio samples: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 49&t=72887
