We already have a menu for making changes in the selected tracks http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tracks_menu.html

Re: Confusing interaction track and global Spectrogram setti

It is still confusing when exercising Spectrograms Preferences and some existing tracks change and some don't (compared to exercising Quality Preferences when no existing tracks change rate or format). So one solution (though I don't think that I like this idea very much) would be that Spectrogram ...

Re: Audicity doesn't show red, yellow, green icons

Ah ha, it all comes clear :) The PDF manual that you have been looking at is not an official manual for Audacity. The screenshots have been made on a Mac computer and the "red, yellow, green icons" are the (standard Mac OS X) buttons for resizing the window. They are the Mac equivalent of ...

Re: Confusing interaction track and global Spectrogram setti

So, how about some text in Waveforms and Spectrograms Preferences "Values only apply to tracks set in View Settings to "Use Preferences"? I think that we should make it clearer that the Spectrogram (global) Preferences are "default" values and not necessarily the values tha...

Re: mp2 processing and automated splitting

I extract the appropriate audio stream, and convert it to flac ... I thought that you said that the audio streams were in AC3 and MP2 format. If that is the case, then for anything more than very basic editing, the audio must be decoded, and whether you decode in Audacity or dBpoweramp makes no dif...

Re: Confusing interaction track and global Spectrogram setti

I thought you were opposed even to that No I'm not opposed to that. Wikipedia says: A context menu offers a limited set of choices that are available in the current state, or context, of the operating system or application. Usually the available choices are actions related to the selected object. I...

Re: Confusing interaction track and global Spectrogram setti

As I mentioned before, just look at the image examples in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Context_menu. "Show View Options" (Mac) and "Screen resolution" (Windows) are global settings. I can't comment on the Mac example as I don't have a Mac so I don't understand the context. Re. ...

Re: mp2 processing and automated splitting

MP2 and MP3 are the same family. MP2 is actually "MPEG-1 layer 2" and MP3 is "MPEG-1 layer 3". MP3 uses a more complex algorithm to encode the audio data, which generally gives better sound quality for low bit-rates. For high bit rates there is little difference in sound quality ...

Sorry, I just couldn't find the option to change the tool in the menus.
See here for how to change key bindings: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/ke ... ences.html

This is the current Audacity 2.1.1 manual: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/
What manual are you referring to?
