Re: Multi channel recording using Behringer xenyx q802USB
The Behringer xenyx q802USB provides 2 USB audio channels, so 2 channels is the limit with your hardware. If your timing is good, one possibility is to overdub the drums. For example, record kick, snare and hi-hat first, then overdub the toms, then overdub cymbals. There is some information about ov...

Re: Save default Effect's values and other default stuff
Thanks for the feedback. Most of the built-in effects do save their last used settings. There are some exceptions, notably the Amplify effect which always defaults to amplify up to 0 dB peak level (if you want to amplify up to a different level and have the last used setting remembered, use the Norm...

Re: Confusing interaction track and global Spectrogram setti
I think it makes little sense to think of defaults as "Preferences" now that any track can ignore Preferences and now that users may want to change defaults more frequently. In most of the applications that I use routinely (including Audacity), one of the first things that I do after a cl...

Re: Confusing interaction track and global Spectrogram setti
There is also a button "Use as Defaults" which applies most settings to all folders. Icon size and text size are only applied to the current folder you're in, even if you click "Use as Defaults". I have not researched if that is a bug in Yosemite or intentional. According to a G...

Re: Waveform antialiasing
This one may be looks cool because of the colors and that, but I think it's less clear and quite more confusing than a monochromatic single and simple waveform: I agree that it "looks cool", but what do the different color shades mean? In the current waveform display... http://manual.auda...

Re: Confusing interaction track and global Spectrogram setti
Given we need to set defaults somewhere, I think it is more intuitive to do that in View Settings than in Preferences or in selected tracks using the Tracks Menu. I don't want to sound dogmatic about this, but we have a consistent scheme that we have been using for many years: We set the global def...

Re: Numeric value in amplify effect
I went through all of Audacity's effects plugins ("Amplify", "Bass and Treble", etc.), and most of them fail to accept input from the numpad. The exceptions are "Noise Reduction", "Nyquist Prompt", and "Reverb", which work normally. How about the &q...

Re: Confusing interaction track and global Spectrogram setti
Yes we could, but we would still need to set the defaults somewhere. The defaults for the window size are particularly important. We generally want the window size to be fairly large, but drawing the spectrogram can become extremely slow for longer tracks unless you have a really fast computer, so t...
