Re: How upsample channel to 11 289 600 hz

11289600 Hz is too high for Audacity. It is also too high for all sound cards, so even if you could do it, the only way that it could be played would be by down-sampling before passing the data to the sound card. For a scientific purpose Could you say more about that? Why do you need to resample to ...

Re: Sensible defaults could make Audacity a lot better

That's a ridiculously small sample, isn't it? Considering that there are probably over 10 million Audacity users worldwide, it represents in the region of 0.00005% of our user base  If you can come up with a practical way to increase that to a representative cross-section of say 0.05%, you w...

Re: Waveform antialiasing

I think the reason for the disagreement here is due to a misunderstanding of what the waveform view is. When zoomed in close enough to see samples, the track shows "dots" to represent the sample values (amplitude and time position), and a line is drawn connecting the dots as an approximati...

So you are suggesting that the linear track view is directly responsible for people recording so loud that their recording is clipped? That's a bit far fetched isn't it?

Re: Efficiency Advice on Generate Silence

You could copy 5 seconds of silence (Select 5 seconds of silence and Ctrl+C), then to insert silence, all you need to do is place the cursor where you want the silence and paste it (Ctrl+V)

Re: Sensible defaults could make Audacity a lot better

I think most of these inexperienced users will do better with a realistic view. I have already given many examples that illustrate clearly that a logarithmic scale is no more "realistic" than a linear scale. Both have their strengths and weaknesses. To make use of either view you need to ...

Re: Newborn narrator

I think (if I'm reading this right) that I'm at least getting closer, yes? I just need to not spike so much? The figures look very close. A very small amount of "limiting" (Limiter effect) should sort those peaks out. bhttp://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/limiter.html Try it with the defa...

An alternative to using it repeatedly for a stronger effect, you can increase the "Input gain" settings. The result will be only slightly different - experiment to see (hear) which you prefer,

Re: Sensible defaults could make Audacity a lot better

But does this affect a limited visual representation of the waveform in such a way that it becomes inaccurate enough to mislead the user? Yes it can. Here we have the same audio (a voice recording) in both tracks. I have zoomed in vertically too look at the noise between words (zoom level the same ...
