Have you installed any new "security" or "PC maintenance" type programs recently?

Re: Questions concerning Audacity and setting proper sound l
What I am trying to do is maximize the input sound level so that the noise component is less (thereby getting a greater SNR) without flattening the sound wave or clipping. In that case, bypass PulseAudio. Select one of the hardware devices (name ends with "hw:0" or "hw:1" or sim...

If you mean converting recorded speech into written text, then no. Perhaps try "Dragon Naturally Speaking" software.

Re: Native notch-filter will not notch above 10kHz :¬(
I'm in favor of a softer validation. That would require one of the lead developers taking on the project, which I doubt will happen soon. Apart from that practical point, isn't it better to design the controls to cover the working range of the effect rather than rely on sloppy validation? Thinking ...

Re: Native notch-filter will not notch above 10kHz :¬(
I really wonder why we support such high sample rates like 384 kHz but limit our filters. We could have a "range" control to select "Hz" or "kHz" and then have the frequency control range as 1 to 1000. If the selected frequency is above the Nyquist frequency, then the ...

Re: Low frequency roll-off for speech
The question does come up, though, how do you bake in the Length setting? Currently you can't. I'd like to see it as an optional attribute of the "curve" tag in the XML. Currently we have: <equalizationeffect> <curve name="name of preset"> <point f="frequency" d="...

Re: When I record from the internet, it is very quiet
The current version of Audacity is 2.1.1 which is available here: http://web.audacityteam.org/download/ The best way to record sounds playing on your computer (Windows Vista and later) is to use "WASAPI". (I'm not sure if that option is available in Audacity 2.0.5, but you should update at...
