Re: Shaded waveform view (when zoomed out)
Here they are: http://forum.audacityteam.org/download/file.php?id=13620 http://forum.audacityteam.org/download/file.php?id=13622 As I suspected; radically different shading for waveforms that are identical in all but a slight (and totally inaudible) shift in phase. Conversely, I'm sure that it's po...

Re: Shaded waveform view (when zoomed out)
If we resample the tracks to a high sample rate, we can see that they are both actually the same sound, just phase shifted:steve wrote:Consider these two waveforms. They both have a frequency of 5512.5 Hz.

Re: Shaded waveform view (when zoomed out)
Consider these two waveforms. They both have a frequency of 5512.5 Hz. tracks000.png The only difference is that the phase of the sine wave in the lower track is offset by 22.5 degrees with respect to the first track. When zoomed in on a normal Waveform view, the similarity is very obvious. When zoo...

Re: Call for new forum icons
Thanks for the updated icons uxdavid. As you have no doubt noticed, I have put them into the forum for a trial period so that we can gather feedback from forum users. There has already been some "off-list" comments from some of the moderators and helpers on this forum, which I will attempt...

Re: new EQ loses last position upon reopen
I have the new[as of July-Aug 2015] 2.1.1 release of Audacity, nicer all the time--but playing with EQ, unlike previous versions the unnamed setting can not be saved[as unnamed], which I use to do in case.. or as I'd tweak the settings, going back and forth. There is a difference (bug) in the curre...

Re: Effect errors?
It should not happen more than once for each effect.
It's a side effect of the effect settings being updated.

Re: phase metering in Audacity
You could use the "Analyze option in the "Vocal Reduction and Isolation" effect to test parts that you are unsure about: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/vocal_reduction_and_isolation.html I guess that what you really want is something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZG...

Re: Suggestion
I think if an extra button cannot be added it is sad. Can the people opposed not ignore it.? Audacity has great potential but some things are too awkward I think that other ways to tackle the "awkwardness" are being considered that do not require adding another button. There would be adva...

Re: phase metering in Audacity
Open a new Audacity project and import the WAV file.
Mix it down to mono, then listen to it. If there is phase cancellation in the original, the mono version of the music will go noticeably quiet.

Re: Stand-Alone Recorder
Does it have a "real" input level control? (can you record loud things without clipping?) It would be interesting to know what sort of job it can make of recording music (recording a live band). If it doesn't clip it could be a good option for recording rehearsals.
