Re: Snowball ICE Microphone MONO

The Snowball ICE Microphone is a mono microphone.
If you record with "number of channels" set to "1 (mono)" in the Device Toolbar, then the recording will play out of both left and right speakers.

Re: WAV file is not read

I can open the file in Audacity using Import Raw Data, but I see the same problem with 'normal' import (without FFmpeg) - but then again, it's not really a 'normal' WAV file. Where did the file come from?

Re: ReplayGain

Thanks very much for the detailed feedback. The second was the track from Haydn Symphony, movement 2, which I love, and has perhaps the most extreme dynamic range I know of in music. This was the only case in which the results were a bit different here, but just a tiny bit too. Your plug-in clipped ...

Re: 3 stereo tracks, not 2 and Audacity insists on combing t

"The usual 2" referred to what I normally see when I import a file to audacity, two horizontally stacked audio files. Is that one end of the Skype call on the left and the other end on the right, or is it both ends of the conversation in both channels? If you listen on headphones, do you ...

Re: Record two mono channels simultaneously

Device Toolbar Recording Channels would be the most obvious to me I've been mulling this over - it's not really a "device" option. The related "device" option is "how many channels". How Audacity groups/arranges the recording tracks has nothing to do with the device (o...

Re: 3 stereo tracks, not 2 and Audacity insists on combing t

What the heck happened? Either, something changed with Skype, or with Call Recorder, or with Audio Hijack, or with what you did with one of those. Regarding the Audacity side, the behaviour has been the same for years: If the audio file has 1 channel, Audacity will import it as 1 mono track, If the...

Re: Record two mono channels simultaneously

Can we change the title of this topic to "Record two mono channels simultaneously" or similar? Oops, I meant to do that but forgot. Done now. Do you think we will we ever get Sven Giermann interested in completing his more thorough-going, possibly cumbersome, ideas: http://forum.audacityt...

Record two mono channels simultaneously

Split from: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=86772#p285719 ...it occurs to me that it might be beneficial for Audacity to provide an option to record 2 mono channels. That would be ideal for those users that wish to record two mono sources at the same time (such as guitar in on...

Re: Is there a way to find all peaks over a set level [-3db]

I'm running 2.1.0, and I don't see "Limiter" as an effect option The "Limiter" effect is new in Audacity 2.1.1 (get it here: http://web.audacityteam.org/download/) I wouldn't recommend the old "Hard Limiter" or this type of job as that is a "soft clipping" ty...
