Re: speakers no longer working

I thought we had a tutorial about this...... There's a series of tutorials in the manual: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tutorial_copying_tapes_lps_or_minidiscs_to_cd.html Since I loaded the Audacity software and followed the instruction on the Audio-technical manual to set up my turntable I ...

Re: Can not hear input from mixer

How are you trying to hear it? Through headphones plugged into the Alesis?
What settings are available in the device toolbar and which are selected?

Re: problems with wave gain

The link works OK for me, but please note that Wave Gain is not our product and as such we are not able to offer support for it.

Re: Bug: default sample format ignored for imports

Even if you got your wish and there was no Default Sample Format, all data always being stored at 32-bit float, Audacity (libsndfile) would still have to upconvert if FFmpeg handed off 16-bit data. That's not quite how my "wish" works. In my dream Audacity, data formats are not converted ...

Re: Record two mono channels simultaneously

and would imply that if you want to record only input (channel) 2 of four, you set Audacity to record 2 channels and not 4 channels. But I've been told even under ASIO that doesn't usually work. A while back I borrowed a 4 channel USB sound card, and that is precisely how it worked with Jack, thoug...

Re: Lock tool bar arrangement

If I understand what you are proposing the number of these "containers" would be user selectable and then the contents would be user defined by dragging tool bars/buttons from somewhere into the desired order and location, correct? Yes. Each "container" is a "DIY toolbar&qu...

Re: Relationship between RMS and peak level

The usual problem is that when the peak level is -3 dB (ACX requirement), the RMS level is a bit too low. Is that your problem?
If so, how much too low is it?

Re: Compressor needs better parameter options

lease see my first post and its link for the explanation. Have done. I don't see any problem in providing lower compression ratios in future versions. In fact we could probably have that in Audacity 2.1.3  (feel free to remind me after Audacity 2.1.2 is released) Rather than providing extrem...

Re: Compressor in v2.1.1 throws error when run as Chain scri

Definitely interesting - If I recall correctly, the original implementation used an RMS window of 10 ms, but in the current implementation it is just 2 ms. That is both good and bad news. On the positive side, it means that the envelope follower is tracking the waveform very closely (so your 4ms att...

Re: Lock tool bar arrangement

I notice that you are running Windows I'm on Linux and that is Audacity 2.1.2 alpha. by setting the window to 13 seconds, but expand the window to 14 seconds like you have and it rearranges and moves the Volume bar from the beginning of the third row to the right hand end of the second row. You don...
