Re: Song Direction
I remind you the downside of present choices is restricting scrubbing to the select tool. I would like it to work in the multi-tool. But too many mouse clicks are already taken to do other things in that tool. I don't understand why you were strongly opposed to having a "scrubbing tool" (...

Re: Latency problem with mix board
You will always get a delay when using "Software Playthough" because of the time that it takes for the software to move the audio data. It will get confusing having two topics about the same issue (http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=87650) We much prefer that you don't ...

Re: Envelope gets funky when tracks edited
Which exact version of Audacity? (there have been fairly recent bug fixes - there may still be some quirks)
Please post some screenshots showing the envelope control points (white dots) before and after the edit.

Re: What headphones best for editing? Regular or studio?
I've not used Superlux, but I've heard that they have quite a good reputation for budget priced headphones for studio monitoring. They make several different models under 60 Euro.cyrano wrote:If you need closed headphones, look at Superlux HD681:

Re: Bug: default sample format ignored for imports
You mean "Optimize storage for: Space saving" or the like? Yes. We never store at bit depth above the file quality, but also never store below the file quality (as now), so in that unusual case we store as 32-bit float. So if you import a 32-bit float track, (preferences 16-bit / space sa...

Re: Can not hear input from mixer
1) Ensure that "Overdub" is on (selected) and "Software Playthrough" is off (not selected). 2) With at least one audio track in the project, press the "Play" button. Do you hear the audio playing? 3) With at least one audio track in the project, press the "Record&q...

Re: Sensible defaults could make Audacity a lot better
If you cut and paste from one track to a track that has a different sample format: If you paste as a new audio clip, the pasted data is not changed. If you paste into an existing audio clip, the pasted data is converted to the same format as the audio clip that it is being merged with. An audio trac...

"Editing" (ie. cut, copy, paste, delete) does not change the audio data format.cyrano wrote:If the source is 24/48, the project will also be stored as 24/48, but once you start editing, it's 32 bit float.
"Processing" (ie. all effects) is performed as 32-bit float.

Re: Bug: default sample format ignored for imports
make the choice something like "Optimize storage for:" Quality (your method) or Space saving (which means, never store at bit depth above the file quality, so 24-bit WAV gets stored at 24-bit, not 32-bit as now). So what happens if you have "Optimise for storage" and you import ...
