Audacity uses the official FLAC encoding library. It passes the audio data to the library, then lets the encoder do its thing. ...

Re: Help with making DJ mix consistent volume
I fixed the typo in the topic title. I use serato to mix on vinyl and record the mixes using serato but some songs are lower volume wise than others. This is one of the challenges of making a "live mix". The best way to make a "studio quality mix" is to not do it "live"...

Re: RMS analysis/measurement tool?
That's why it has the limit.jimmyhosen wrote: It spent more than a minute calculating, and then Audacity crashed and closed.
100 million samples at 44100 Hz sample rate is about 37 minutes 47 seconds. If your track is an hour long you can analyze the first 30 minutes, then analyze the second half.

Re: New version of "Crossfade Tracks"
I noticed the warning about not using on one track has been removed. "Hopefully" users will at least glance briefly at the documentation (perhaps I'm hoping too much ;)) or will experiment and discover. "Normal" use: Select the parts that you want to crossfade, like this: tracks...

Re: Bug: default sample format ignored for imports
at the point we drag the 16-bit audio from track 2 alongside the clip already in track 1, in "space-saving" and now, we do have a mix of 16-bit and 32-bit. I think the track info should then say "16-bit/32-bit". I agree that track info saying "16-bit/32-bit float" woul...

Re: Problems to set up effects.
You've not said what exactly you are wanting to do, but if you want to make a lot of use of real-time effects, you may be better to use Ardour rather than Audacity.
