Re: Bug: default sample format ignored for imports
OK, so the processing is doing the de facto upconversion, no? Yes, but it is not a case of "first" convert "and then" process (2 steps). It is just "process", and "process" returns 32-bit float values (1 step) What we do now for 16-bit tracks is: "first&...

I don't currently have them installed, but as a typical crash scenario:Gale Andrews wrote:Can you say what you would do to make a crash happen?
While running real-time preview, click the bypass button in the effect GUI.

Re: Bug: default sample format ignored for imports
Don't all 32-bit float to 16-bit downconversions have the choice of adding harmonic distortion (if not dithered) or using dither? Yes, downconverting has quantize errors which create harmonic distortion. Any text book on audio production will say that dither should be applied once only, after all t...

Re: New version of "Crossfade Tracks"
it seems the best workaround is use another effect Yes, and there's no shortage of options. If I recall correctly, you generally preferred the "Crossfade Clips" effect. If the user does not mind the crossfade being "permanent", then putting both clips onto one track and using Cr...

Slim down the Click Track interface
As Robert pointed out recently, the Click Track generator has "many" controls. This is particularly inconvenient for non-mouse users form whom it takes 24 clicks to cycle through the full set of controls. There have also been occasional complaints about the lack of "musical" clic...

Re: Usb PrePen
It seems that your computer is not seeing the PrePen at all. The only device it can see is the (Conexant) Intel chip on your motherboard. The device is receiving power via the USB cable (the lights are coming on) but your computer cannot see that there is a USB audio device connected. My suspicion i...

Re: Usb PrePen
Forget about Jack for now. Jack runs on top of ALSA, so it can only work with a device if that device is working correctly with ALSA. If you managed to get Jack started, it was probably running with your on-board sound card rather than the USB device - this will only confuse the issue and make fault...

Re: Starts making a loud inteference sound towards the end
I suspect that the problem is due to "drop-outs". That is when some part of the computer system fails to keep up with the amount of audio data. If you could post a short clip in WAV format, we can check if that is the case (see here for how to post a WAV sample: http://forum.audacityteam.o...

Re: New version of "Crossfade Tracks"
Is this case really common enough to be worth bothering with, or could it just be documented as a limitation? Unless you have a strong objection, I think that I'll go with documenting the limitation for now. I have a further improvement in mind that will behave better with your example (and similar...
