Re: Recording noise getting worse... not better
I'm baaack. I've just hooked up a new AT2020.... The most obvious thing about that recording is that your voice is very quiet. I've not read through this long thread, but the steps to fix that are: 1) Speak up - project your voice. I don't mean "shout", I mean, imagine that you are talkin...

What operating system are you using?
Which version of Audacity? (look in "Help > About Audacity")

Have a look at "Replay Gain" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ReplayGain and http://wiki.hydrogenaud.io/index.php?title=ReplayGain).
iTunes uses a similar (but proprietary) system called "Sound Check".

Re: auto moving waveform while playing
If the scrolling is a nuisance, then you are probably at the wrong zoom level (probab;y zoomed in too far). If you have a wheel mouse, you can zoom in/out very easily and rapidly with "Ctrl + Mouse Wheel". Nevertheless, "smooth scrolling" is a popular request. I have added your v...

Re: Improved "leveling" for speech
I don't know what you mean. The "latest version" of the "Level Speech" effect does not have a "threshold" setting.quake004 wrote:That worked like a charm, thanks. I have a doubt because I put the threshold pretty random.

Re: Improved "leveling" for speech
I tried the level speech plug-in with this audio. I used the -36 threshold and heaviest degree of leveling. I think that you may be describing the wrong effect. The latest version of the "LevelSpeech.ny" plug-in from this post does not have a "threshold" setting. If you are refe...

Re: Using the mouse for Editing
I scroll through till I'm where I want to be then I use the mouse to mark the position with a thin vertical black line then then "shift + Home". I meant adding markers during the time the recording is being made like a film director uses a clapperboard to mark starts and not after in edit...

Re: Using the mouse for Editing
Say I've advanced to a point in the file perhaps 5 minutes into it and I want to select from there back to the beginning You've not said how you are "advancing". If you are "playing" the track and there is no audio selection 1) Shift + A (stop and set cursor) 2) Shift + Home (ex...
