Re: Improving a bad speech recording - help needed!

To stand any chance of improving that recording you will need the original unprocessed recording. Someone has already tried to "clean up" that recording, which pretty much puts an end to further improvement. I would guess that the audio quality of the original is quite poor, so there may n...

RMS Normalizing

There is a new "RMS Normalize" plug-in available that may be useful to people engaged in producing audiobooks.
It is available here: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 78#p293878

Re: Where to download the subliminal.ny plugin?

I don't use cooledit or mindsync so I don't know what you are referring to. Officially published Nyquist plug-ins are here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Download_Nyquist_Plug-ins You can also use the "Advanced search" link to search the Nyquist boards on this forum (link near top righ...

Re: No search function within Audacity Manual??

The first page of the manual provides links to many of the most important features. For example: if you hover your mouse pointer over the picture of the Audacity interface, the name of that part of the interface will pop up, and clicking will take you to the relevant section of the manual. In the le...

Re: pro audacity

Audacity will record stream but audition won't but audition is a better editor. Adobe Audition has some features / abilities that Audacity does not, and there are a few things that Audition can do better than Audacity, but overall I find Audacity to be quicker, easier and more productive to work wi...

Re: Hard Limiter gone?

Attached is a plug-in that produces the same effect as the old Hard Limiter effect. The controls are a little different (simpler) than the old version. The "Threshold level (dB)" control sets the level at which clipping is applied. The "Mix (%)" control sets the "wet/dry&quo...

Re: Hard Limiter gone?

Thanks for the clarification Gale. I agree that for a very small amount of clipping the difference is negligible, but Franky666 wrote that he was using the Limiter with settings: "Soft Clip, 0, 0, -10, 25, No" These setting produce a significant amount of clipping when applied to a tone wi...

In what way are they different to the "Binaural Beats" plug-in for Audacity?

Re: Hard Limiter gone?

This is what I get when using the clipping settings in the Limiter effect.
The first half is soft clipping at -10 dB, the second half is hard clipping at -10 dB.
To me the change in sound is immediately obvious. Is it not obvious to you?
