Re: The age old crackling problem

Re: The age old crackling problem

Why so many sound devices? All of those "NVIDIA High Definition Audio" devices are likely to be HDMI. They use a chip that supports a lot of channels so that it can be used in "home cinema" (even though many of those input / output "devices" may not actually be wired t...

Re: Macro equivalent fro "insert silence"?

Re: Problem with error 99999

Try doing "Transport menu > Rescan Audio Devices", then check your settings in the Device Toolbar . Also, ensure that you are not running any ASIO apps (such as "DAW" apps) - By default, ASIO will grab exclusive access to the audio device, leading to Audacity being denied access ...

Re: Not recording sound

Have I got this right: You want to record the audio that is playing out through your HDMI monitor speakers / headphones. If so, then in the Device Toolbar you will need to set: host = WASAPI Recording input = <appropriate HDMI output " loopback "> Playback output = <the same HDMI output>

On the side, it would be nice if the text throughout the application / dialogs is somehow selectable/copyable
On Linux it is, but apparently Windows does not support copying from a wx message (wxMessageDialog) window.

Re: Expander in the future?

The compression.expansion cycle (they called it a "compander") is "linear" What does "linear" mean in the context of dynamic compression? What is happening to the gain? If you mean that the combined effect of "signal -> compression -> expansion => signal" is ...

Unfortunately, I do not have a USB stereo mic, which confounds an attempt to compare Audacity with Voice Recorder.
I don't see why you need a USB stereo mic. Haven't you already recorded in Voice Recorder from your VTOP USB Audio Capture Card?
