Re: Add a scripting language like Cool Edit has

Audacity has an extremely powerful scripting language built in. It is called "Nyquist". Short commands may be run in the "Nyquist Prompt" effect (http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/nyquist_prompt.html), or you can even create full-blown plug-ins (http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wi...

Re: command to find loudest sample in selection, possible?

;control newlength "New length in samples" int-text "" 44100 1 nil This line creates a control. For it to work in the Nyquist Prompt requires Audacity 2.1.1 or later. The syntax is described here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Nyquist_Plug-ins_Reference#Nyquist_Plug-in_Widge...

Re: command to find loudest sample in selection, possible?

By the way, if you are interested in working with Nyquist, I would highly recommend using a text editor that has "parentheses matching", and preferably syntax highlighting for Lisp or Scheme. Lisp / Scheme are not quite the same as XLISP on which Nyquist is based, but they are close enough...

You mean this one? http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=172749#p172749 If you open the .ny file in your text editor, you will see that most of the code is just handling the input and checking for stupid user errors ;) It's only when you get to the final line that it actually does something....

That is 'usually' the case (virtually "always" for consumer level sound cards), though some high level sound cards are able to handle multiple streams without help from Pulse.

Re: command to find loudest sample in selection, possible?

Very happy to see this feature but bit disappointed because it doesn't seem to work properly. Unfortunately it's a bug that crept in when effects were updated in Audacity 2.1.1. It works correctly in Audacity 2.1.0. Also, I'd not noticed the problem until too late in the 2.1.2 release cycle, so it ...

Re: download legacy version?

like the last mortal moment of a dying crow. Not quite right then. I've just been reading that PulseAudio has started playing up again on some Ubuntu 15.10 systems, so it could be to do with that. Do you have just one sound card installed on the machine? If so, you should see an option in bot...

Re: Need a little help with setting up a Chain

What we really need is a short recording that has not been processed at all - just the raw original recording.
