Re: WAV File passes ACXCheck, MP3 doesn't. Wondering why?
Looking at the figures in your first post, a little bit of dynamic range compression should bring the original recording comfortably into the specified RMS range. The MP3 will then also probably be within range. The Noise floor looks suspiciously low, like you may have used too much noise reduction....

Re: URGENT - REMOVAL OF CAR NOISE FROM AUDIO
Digging out voices from a sea of noise is a specialist task requiring expertise and specialist equipment. If this is an important or legal matter, you could try seeking advice from an "audio forensics" professional. Recording people without their consent is illegal in some countries, and c...

Re: Equalization - 'length of filter' selections changed
The Equalization effect is based on an FFT filter. These type of filters are not good at doing steep slopes at low frequencies (for the rather complex explanation of why this is, Wikipedia provides a starting point: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fast_Fourier_transform). For removing narrow-band freq...

Re: Audio Track display - shades of blue
The trouble I have is trying to figure what Key Word to search for.. A good place to start looking for things in the manual is the first page. There is a picture of the full Audacity interface and it is clickable - hover your mouse pointer over the picture and it will tell you what that part of the...

Re: Removing sounds from a Track.
Hang on, hang on, hang on. I am a bit confused, I'll upload an image of Audacity, sorry I should have done this before. OK, so using the track numbers from your picture "pm5 1" to "pm5 4" which I shall just call track "1" to "4". You could do this all in the ...

Re: Win 7: Crashing when editing chains, equalizer parameter
It's a bug in Audacity 2.1.1. I think that you can work around the bug by opening the Equalization effect in a project and making the required settings before you open the Chain editor. The bug has been fixed in Audacity 2.1.2 which is due to be released very soon (2.1.2rc3 should be available via t...

As koz implied, you can't make a great recording from a poor recording. The best we can hope to do make it less bad. This is what a raw unprocessed stereo voice recording should look like: firsttrack000.png In contrast, this is what the sample looks like: firsttrack001.png It's clear to see that in ...

Re: cannot open audacity because of XP error
Windows XP is obsolete. Please see this post: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 46&t=84123
For 32-bit XP, Audacity requires SP3. See this FAQ: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/fa ... ntry_point

Re: I need help with Noise Reduction Please! Like ASAP! Than
Noise reduction is always a trade-off between how much noise is removed and how much damage is caused to the remaining audio. The art is in getting the balance between these two conflicting measures. If you attempt to remove ALL of the noise, then it will almost certainly cause noticeable damage (of...
