Re: Crackling noises in raw PCM files
I'd guess that it's a problem with the recording system, but you've told us nothing about that.

Re: Having trouble with "drawing tool"
Two reasons why you can't use the Draw tool there: 1) You are not zoomed in close enough. You need to zoom in so close that you can see the individual dots (the "samples"). 2) You are in "Pause" mode. Playback must be "Stopped". (Click the Button with the yellow square)...

Re: Administrator approval
Having had a quick look, it looks like it should be fairly straightforward to make the default either the "Documents" directory, or the "Music" directory. Examples: Unix/Mac: ~/Documents Windows: "C:\Users\username\Documents" Unix/Mac: ~/Music Windows: "C:\Users\us...

Re: Administrator approval
But I will still prefer it to be either the "Music" folder or even the "Documents" folder on Windows. The user may of course choose any writable location that they want, but I would much prefer that navigating begins from a valid writable location than from a forbidden location....

I can live with that, and I agree, better than now.

Re: Administrator approval
But first we would have to be clear what we want I think that the first and most important thing that we need is a more sensible default save/export directory. Personally I would class it as a "bug" that the default is a non-writable location. I don't think that it should be too dificult ...

Re: Audacity records a half pitch below
There is no setting to tell Audacity to record at the wrong pitch.
Which version of Windows?
Which version of Audacity? (look in "Help > About Audacity")

If this were hardware, it would probably be a push button labelled something like:Gale Andrews wrote:For example we could have "Solo button behaviour: Only one track soloed/Multiple tracks soloed/No Solo button."
"Solo: single / multi"

Re: frequency spectrum
"Plot Spectrum" uses FFT analysis to split the sound into lots of frequency bands, and then plots a graph to indicate the amplitude in each frequency band. Points between each of the distinct frequencies are plotted by interpolating between the points on the graph (it draws a smooth curve ...

Re: Cannot play very short sound clip
It's partly an Audacity issue too because Audacity also buffers the audio data, and it's partly a hardware / drivers issue. With some combination of hardware / drivers / sound system, if playback ends before all of the various buffers are full, then the sound card may not even try to play the audio,...
